Mold Inspector Hiring Tips

A trustworthy mold inspector is a must when it comes to your health and the health of your home. And yes, it may seem easier to just pick a name out of an Internet search, but think about this – would you pick just any doctor for you or even your child?

I doubt it and I’m guessing you would ask around first to find out from friends and family who they would recommend. You might also check that doctor’s references and make sure they’re licensed and certified. After all, you certainly wouldn’t want a doctor who is inexperienced handling yours’ or your family’s health, now would you?

So why would you hire someone to inspect your home for the very same reason? When it comes to mold and toxic black mold lurking in your home, you need someone that knows where to find it.

And when mold is left to go unattended, not only can it do serious damage to your health, it can also cause severe structural damage to your home, leaving you with thousands of dollars worth of expenses or even the loss of your home entirely.

So before you choose just anyone, ask around. Talk to your friends, family, neighbors and even your favorite restaurant to find out whom they trust. Find out from your city if they have a list of preferred inspectors. Check with the Better Business Bureau to see if the person you’re interested in hiring is recommended or not.

And even if you’ve heard they’re the best in the business, always ask for references and find out how their clients’ inspections went. If you’re told those references aren’t available or they can’t give out that information, move on.

More often than not, any good mold inspector will want to get the word out about their services and they know that their clients are the perfect opportunity to do so.
